EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

Adelante Africa has three educational projects aimed at the most vulnerable children in the community. One of these is the nursery school which started in September 2013. The others are St Joseph’s Primary School and the Secondary school sponsorship programme. Read more.

CHILDREN´S HOME

The Omwaana Tugende Children’s Home takes in abandoned children and orphans who have no family who can look after them. The name of the home is Runyoro for “Go forward child” and the motto of the home is “It takes a village to raise a child” This reflects our belief that the children should be raised and cared for by the whole community. FUNCTIONAL ADULT LITERACY (F.A.L.)

The government administrator of Igayaza estimates that only 10% of adults are literate.The F.A.L. programmeteaches adults to read and write at the same time as widening their knowledge in the areas of health, agriculture and the law. Read more.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Adelante Africa backs projects which improve the health and economy of families and their ability to support their children. These include, micro-finance loans, two chicken projects and the Igayaza Women’s sewing group.
