“The Tweyombeke Elderly Poultry Keeping Group” has 22 members. They are either elderly or very poor or both and many are looking after orphans. In 2012 4 hens were given to each family. In exchange they promised to each bring 40 eggs to the childrens home. They undertook to organise when each person should bring the eggs. The project is supervised by the F.A.L. adult education group. The F.A.L. poultry project The F.A.L. organized themselves into 11 groups, around their villages and neighbours. Each group built or renovated a chicken run. This was inspected by a member of Adelante Africa Uganda. When the chicken run was found to be acceptable the groups was given a cockerel and 5 hens. Each group undertook to bring eggs, maize or do some work on the Omwaana Tugende farm in exchange for the chickens. The project began in February 2013. GO BACK
