The Igayaza Women’s Group sewing group

The Women’s Group sewing group. This group meets twice weekly. Women from outlying villages come to learn how to sew traditional clothes and school uniforms. They can hire a sewing machines from one of the women in the group for a couple of weeks and take it back to their villages to sew school uniforms and Sunday clothes for their neighbours.

This way they earn a bit of income and the people in the villages have access to cheaper clothes. They also sell aprons and bags in “kitenge” cloth which we buy from them and bring back to Spain to sell to help fund the project. Adelante Africa bought the 5 sewing machines the group uses and pays the teacher and the rent for the room where they work. GO BACK
