Bunora Sunflower Oil

Update February 2018

We have started to produce our oil in larger containers – 20, 10, 5, 3 and 2-litre Jerrycans

The Bunura Oil Press is now producing large quantities of sunflower oil and animal feed. It is even becoming popular in local supermarkets thanks to of the workers and adverts on the local radios.

The new harvest is about to be brought in and we wish all … farmers, workers and consumers the very best!

We are now selling bottles of oil with labels! As we can’t charge local people more than they pay for palm oil cooking oil, which is much cheaper to produce, we are still working at a loss. Nevertheless, the oil is very popular locally! Fred Nyabirano, the Chairperson of AA Uganda is helping with the process of registering the oil with the Ugandan National Board of Standards (UNBS). Once we have done this, we will be able to sell the oil nationally.

Two of our main objectives have been met:
– Creating an alternative cash crop to maize for local farmers.
– Providing the local community with healthier cooking oil.

Freshly pressed oil!

Production of this oil could not have been achieved without Ocen from World Vision, Godfrey Werikhe and Raymond from REA, The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Extraction, as well as to all the members of Adelante Africa Uganda and Spain who have worked so hard to reach our aim of selling locally produced oil!
